Sometimes, the cause is a little more serious.

To turn off your wi-fi, all you need to do is hover over the buttons in the bottom right of your toolbar, click on the wi-fi symbol, and disconnect from the wi-fi you’re currently connected to. One such cause could be the simple error of having both wi-fi and a wired connection enabled at the same time. Discherging can be done by removing the battery and pressing the on switch for perhaps 30 seconds. There are a variety of things that could make your Realtek controller stop working correctly. Tough luck if you've a laptop though - getting to the CMOS battery (or the pins to reset the CMOS) will be difficult. If yours are out this fix may work for you. So check for the lights - I think they indicate whether a cable is plugged in and detected and whether connection to the router is established -but don't quote me on that. On and after resetting date and time all was well again.

Unplug mains cable from computer, press on button to clear MB of any lingering charge, removed CMOS battery, waited 30 seconds, replaced CMOS battery and mains cable. In truth there was a bug affecting the motherboard and after reading on the internet the fix was : I'm in the UK and my ISP diagnosed a faulty router, while the computer said the Ethernet cable was not installed or faulty - both were completely wrong! It had been working happily for 16 months.

GA-H81M-H MB with windows 10 64 bit the Ethernet suddenly stopped working (no lights red/green plus amber on MB adjacent to Ethernet port). Rebooted a couple times, disconnected the cable, then it was working again. I also tried those Advanced tab options and unforuntately did not help (even the auto-gigabit disable option). Update: no such luck when it happened again. Win10 Auto Installation Program (SID:1931833)

I noticed they very recently updated the drivers again last week: If something is just broken where if it does encounter an error (which can happen and is expected at the analog/media level) Windows or the driver won't retry. fiddling with the cable and power cycling. This same Realtek NIC has been working fine before. Maybe it's just coincidence? I have the same issue since the anniversary update (1607) on two different machines.

I will try the Cat 6 cable but true be told, I find it hard to believe it's actually the cable. Hope this reduces some users frustrations! Click on configure, switch to advanced tab and change the following properties:Īuto Disable Gigabit > Relink Battery or AC - (This setting restricts network speed) Open Network and Sharing Center, click on Manage adapter settings, right click Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (Local Area Connection) and select properties. If you don’t have a Cat 6 cable you can make the following changes to your adapter settings, it makes the network stable, but it restricts the network speed to 100 MB. I have a WD M圜loud mirror backup drive on the network using a Cat 5 cable with over 20 metres in length and it runs 1 Gigabit perfectly. It’s funny, the cable between the computer and router is less than 1 meter. This didn’t help very much, however what did work, was to replace my network cable between the computer and router to Cat 6 cable, after that my network has worked well. I have installed the Driver Version: 10.10.714.2016 with Driver Date:
